Royal Navy 12lb Cannonball British

£52.70

An exceptionally rare 4.4" spherical shell/cannonball. This ball was recovered from a Georgian firing range, where Royal Navy officers and gunners were trained until the end of the Victorian era. The ball has a threaded fuze apature, for a brass 'boxer' type fuze. Still visible, is the dimple used to house a copper rivet - which was used to index the ball correctly on it's wooden sabot prior to loading. The ball has gone through a lengthy treatment and preservation. The external condition good, please use the photgraphs as a condition report. A must for any naval collector, from the bygone golden age of sail.
