A very neat 6lb (3.5") solid shot, recovered from a Georgian era firing range, that was used to train gunners and gunnery officers through the majority of the 19th century. The ball has undergone a lengthy period of conservation, and has a good surface finish and weight. Projectiles of this size were popular for use in stern and bow "chase" guns, on account of their long range capavility vs heavier calibers. 6lb long guns were also used as quarter deck armourments on some vessels, where a high centre of mass could cause stability issues, if heavier ordnance was used. A timeless relic, leftover from the golden age of sail.
