A very rare antique silver gilt photo frame - standing on a blue and white enamelled column which opens to reveal a hidden chamber. I think the underside of the base section could be a seal or used as a seal but currently un-engraved. There is a bruise to the column (see photos) and there is enamel loss around this area sadly. It is a lovely turquoise enamel with white enamel bands above and below. There is currently no glass in the frame but this can easily be cut. I can’t find another comparable but it certainly feels rare - William Hornby was known for making great novelty silver. There are also French insect control marks. Height: 13cm Weight: 120g
