This is a cast iron Victorian ‘Gypsy Pot’ No 2. It has a diameter of around 13cm and a depth of 9cm. The handle, which is also cast iron, is 18cm long. The base is marked with the makers name but I am unable to make any clear readings from it apart from the No 2. I’ve read that the number signify the pint capacity of these pots, but it’s not true in this case as this pot holds 1 1/2 pints (800ml). It weighs 800 grams. It’s in very nice condition. Still watertight and has no damage past normal everyday use. As I don’t know it’s history I would advise having the interior reconditioned if you intend to use this for cooking again. A great Victorian piece of hardware.
