A stunning example of a Spelter sculpture of the Marly horse. In good condition. No damage and very well cast. Would make an impressive talking point for any room. Measures approx 38cm tall x 33cm long x 16cm deep. weighs 4.7 kg The Marly Horses are a pair of marble sculptures by Guillaume Coustou the Elder, commissioned for the Royal court of France. They were originally intended for the parterre of the Château de Marly, but were moved to the Champs-Élysées in Paris in 1794 and later to the Louvre Museum. The sculptures depict two wild horses, each being restrained by a groom, symbolizing the untamed power of nature and the dominance of man. Please see my other listings Thanks for looking
