This vintage nail was found in a very worn piece of drift wood I discovered on the beach at winchelsea beach on the south coast. It's iron and has a great patina. It's shaft is square in cross section while being around 17.5 cm long. The plank was thick enough for me to think this from a ship/boat but that maybe me getting carried away. The wood was very worn and wet with the nail falling out as soon as I picked it up, how it stayed in through all its recent travels I will never know. Free UK post
