19th-century English coopered oak and brass-bound barrel dating probably from circa 1880. These were commonly used as a tobacco jar, small rum keg, or household container. Materials: Features rich dark-stained oak staves joined with traditional cooperage techniques and secured by polished brass bands.This particular barrel has 5 bands which points to a higher end maker . Design: Fitted with a hinged wooden lid secured by brass hinges, showing aged character and patina consistent with the Victorian era . It sits 46cm in height and only 30cm across making it perfect for the hallway or fireside . The colour and patina of the oak and brass is just fabulous making this a unique piece of history that lives on as another stunning piece of furniture .
