Victorian-style mahogany torchère, also commonly referred to as a tall pedestal or plant stand. Features a distinctive barley twist (spiraled) carved column. The stand is supported by three cabriole legs that terminate in ball and claw feet. Stands approximately 135 cm (approximately 53 inches) in height. Material: Crafted from solid wood with a deep, lustrous finish. These stands were historically used as "torchères" to hold lamps or candelabras but are frequently used today as decorative plinths for plants or sculptures. There is a small scuff on the outside rim of on the of the stand (see 7th photo) and some minor scratches where a pot would stand. Minor cosmetic to feet (see photos), otherwise in excellent condition.
