Victorian Three draw Spyglass naval telescope Manufactured by J P Cutts Brass and burr walnut 83 cm when fully extended. The trademark distinctly shows “TRY MF” below the anchor. Royal Museums at Greenwich suggest the ‘F’ is a fault in the engraving process on the metalwork. In addition they have found an entry placed by the company in the 1870 publication ‘The Handbook to the Manufacturers and Exporters of Great Britain’ that showed the trade mark printed, where it definitely says “TRY ME” So this piece is one featuring a fault in engraving making it very interesting.
