A bracket has been put on the inside of both back legs, this was likely to reinforce the legs as there is a cracking in this area. The chair still holds a grown man's weight, but it may be worth taking a look at this incase you could do a better job of the enforcement etc. There are some historic inactive wood worm holes on the back rest.
