This is a Victorian-era, leather-bound, self-interpreting family Bible, attributed to the Late Rev. John Brown. The title on the cover reads "The Glorious Gospel of the Blessed God". It contains the Old and New Testaments with extensive notes, marginal references, and illustrations by John Brown of Haddington. The Bible was a popular work, remaining in print well into the twentieth century after its initial publication in 1778. The image shows signs of wear consistent with an antique or vintage item. It has a dedication page as expected with a family bible and will need some restoration as the spine has peeled away internally. See photos for more details.
