Artist’s seal on rear. Ca. 38cm high, x 27cm wide x 15cm deep, weight 6.3kg. He’s distinguished by his large belly and his equally enormous alms bag, which he carried everywhere. Hotei was a favorite subject for Zen monk-painters in China and Japan as early as the 13th century.
