The Keay family of silversmiths were active in Perth from the late 18th century to mid 19th century. The spoon has the Edinburgh assay mark as the 1836 Act required all Scottish silver to be hallmarked in the assay offices of Glasgow or Edinburgh rather than the provincial assay offices.
