The upper capital includes three suspension hooks originally intended to support subsidiary baskets. Matched pair of Victorian silverplate centerpiece bases manufactured by Elkington & Co. dating to 1873, these stands were originally engineered as the structural foundations for glass tazzas or epergnes.
