Circa 1950 Japanese two-panel folding screen featuring hand-painted silk panels with a gold-tone background. The front side depicts a seated woman playing a shamisen instrument alongside a flowering bonsai tree, while the reverse side displays a larger cherry blossom bonsai in a red pot. Each side is signed with traditional calligraphy and a red seal. The panels are set within a dark wood frame with decorative brass hinges. This piece measures approximately 22.5" wide when fully extended and 17.5" in height. Note a small puncture in the silk on the reverse bonsai side and minor surface wear to the wood frame.
