This is a Marine Distance Meter manufactured during WWII by Henry Hughes & Son Ltd of London. The pattern number is 703 and it has a serial number which is 3173. It is made from brass & glass with a bakelite handle. Henry Hughes, originally a clock maker began trading in London in 1828 and continued within the family until 1947. It is in its original box with brief operating instructions in the lid. The weight before packing is 1.6kg with the measurement 7x4.5x5 inches.
