Late 19th Early 20th Century Pewter Tankard With Weights And Measures Markings

£11.50

A fascinating tulip shaped ½ pint pewter tankard made in Birmingham by the firm of Gaskell and Chambers (marked on the underside). The manufacturer, Gaskell and Chambers was established in 1892 and produced metalware for for inns and taverns. This tankard would've been used in a public house for many years and if it could talk could probably tell many tales. The stamp markings were made by the weights and measures authority and usually feature the monarch initials and crown along with a location number and date. Very interesting to research. The tankard stands 10cm tall. This is a very old item and shows signs of age and ware. Please see all images as they form part of the description.
