LARGE ANTIQUE PEWTER SHIP'S PEN STAND AND INKWELL. In my estimation it dates from around the mid 19th Century, but please make up your own mind about this. The ink stand measures approx 9 inches (225mm) in diameter across the base, 4 inches (100mm) in diameter across the top , by 3 3/4 (95mm) tall, and is made from solid pewter. It is made with an very wide base, to allow it to be used at sea in rough weather, without tipping over! It has holes to hold 6 pens, a nice patina, and typical turned decoration around the base and body. It is in good, antique condition, with light wear consistent with its age.
