Rare 1919 first edition of Knox County In The World War 1917-1919, compiled and published by the Knoxville Lithographing Company, Knoxville, Tennessee. This copy includes an apparent signature/inscription from WWI veteran Mitchell Long, who is identified within the book by both a military biography (page 228) and portrait photograph (page 229). Long served in the U.S. Field Artillery, rose to the rank of Captain, served overseas in France, and participated in the St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, and Woevre operations. Illustrated throughout with photographs and service records. Fair condition with cover wear, scuffing, pencil notations, and a detached title page. Remaining pages appear attached and readable.
