KLAUSENBURG UNGARN Sugar Urn Silber 13 Lot, Hallmarked, c. 1820

£1,434.54

The SILVER SUGAR URN is extremely elaborately crafted and is of EXCELLENT QUALITY: The basic formal shape is that of an amphora - in contrast to this, however, the hollow body is of a bulbous, spherical shape, further tapering downwards / round base, two handles and a lid are available. The decorative repertoire is taken from the stylized floral treasure trove of forms, with leaf motifs, palmettes and scrollwork - all arranged like a frieze (carried out using chased work) - being used. Furthermore, the upper edge of the sugar urn has an openwork border and the lid has a knob with grape leaves and grapes. The ornaments covering the urn's surface originate in stylized floral decorations: Leaves of palm tree, leaves and scrolls - being arranged in frieze decoration (chasing work) - deco.
