In 1873 Mrs Florence Potts patented the 'Mrs Potts cold handle sad iron'. Rare Antique Mrs Potts Cold Handled Sad Iron x3 Full Set Cast Iron Wooden Handle. These were sold in sets of three with a detachable wooden handle which remained cool whilst the base was heating.
