A large fine grand tour statuette circa.1880 of the dancing faun, (or Satyr playing cymbals) based on the model by Massimiliano Soldani Benzi (1656 - 1740) was unearthed in 1830 at the Casa del Fauno (House of the Faun) in Pompeii. It has long been housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Splendid green tone over, in excellent condition with fine cast features & details.
