The stool is well sprung and actually very comfortable. We didn't buy it as a stool to sit on, just as a lovely piece of furniture to sit in the corner of a room. We personally love how it looks, and therefore didn't want to recover, but it looks as though it would be a fairly straightforward thing to do.
