Antique Captain Field’s Improved parallel rule, marked Manning & Son, Greenwich. Boxwood rule with brass hinged arms, historically used for nautical chart navigation and plotting parallel bearings. The rule has been gently cleaned and the brass lightly polished. It retains age-related marks, fading to some scale markings, small stains and general wear as shown in the photos. The maker/retailer marks “Manning & Son Greenwich” and “Capt Field’s Improved” are visible. The hinged mechanism opens and closes as shown. No case or box included.
