Bronze study of 'The Spirit of Ecstasy'. Measuring 36cm tall, mounted to a solid marble base (diameter 12.5cm). It is in the form of a woman leaning forwards with her arms outstretched behind and above her. Billowing cloth runs from her arms to her back, resembling wings. Would make a great gift to a car enthusiast or alternatively would also be a great gift to a non car lover due to the romantic yet tragic story behind the bronzes creation. The Spirit of Ecstasy was designed by Charles Sykes and carries with it a story about a secret passion between John Walter Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu and his secret love and the model for the emblem, Eleanor Velasco Thornton. Bronze is signed Charles Sykes, however this is not an original of his work, this is a modern reproduction.
