Embossed green beer bottle from the Reading brewery “H & G Simonds Ltd – Hop Leaf Brewers.” The wording “Bottles the sole property of…” was common on brewery bottles from the late 1800s into the early 1900s to discourage pubs and customers from keeping them. The embossing and shape suggest roughly: * c.1890–1920 The brewery itself H & G Simonds was a major regional brewer in Reading before eventually becoming part of Courage Brewery. In great condition no chips or cracks.
