The basket was made in London by Corke Brothers & Co and dates to 1909. The hallmarks, on the side of the silver collar, are a little rubbed but can still be deciphered. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter o for 1909 and the distinctive C B & Co makers' mark for Corke Brothers & Co.
