This is a beautiful antique French valance dating to around 1820 - it would have been used as a bed valance and hung from a ciel de lit above a chateau bed! The fabric is a lovely heavyweight cretonne cotton, beautifully printed in a floral pattern on a taupe, or greige, ground.
