A wonderful antique plaque, made by Elkington for The Great Exhibition of 1851. After the original Renaissance “ TEMPERANCE BASIN “ if depicts several vignettes of classical figures emblematic of the arts, industry, science, literature and nature. It measures approximately 18 1/4” wide by 2” deep , exceptional quality with very fine detail. A wonderful display piece that looks beautiful from every angle, it would have originally been electroplated but has been cleaned so many times over the years it is now just the base copper showing. Condition is excellent with no damage, but please remember this is now around one hundred and eighty years old and so will have some tiny marks and scratches etc - see pictures.
