Antique Victorian Correction Chair Child’s Cane Seat Turned Spindles museum

£65.01

An antique correction chair from the Victorian era Made to correct posture and often fidgety behaviour in Victorian children This small sized slim chair has a high seat and back. A child would Be made to sit bolt upright on it for periods of time. Failure to sit still would result in falling. Seat height is 18in Back 35in Turned wooden spindles and cane rattan seat. There is some historical evidence of previously treated wood worm and some wear to the cane. I would suggest that this is a display decoration chair due to this. It would look lovely with an old teddy or doll on. A piece of social history and would not look out of place in a museum or national trust property
