They were used as table covers in the Victorian & Edwardian eras, serving as decorative items & also protection for the polished wood underneath. This one has a floral design in rich colours. It looks fabulous draped over a chair or perhaps a bed or even hung as a tapestry as it is quite lightweight. Could also be used as a carpet. The fringe was removed on two ends.
