Antique cast iron charcoal box iron dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. This type of iron was filled with burning coals to heat the base. It features a top-latching hinged lid, a curved wooden handle, and side ventilation holes. The inside lid is embossed with the number 5. Crucially, the original internal removable bottom grate is still present. Condition: As-found antique condition with heavy rustic patina and surface rust. The lid hinge operate mostly.
