For sale, a very rare and impressive 20lb lead coated projectile, for use with an early Armstrong rifled breach loading artillery piece. The piece has a feint EOC marking to the head, signifying it's manufacture at the Elswick Ordnance Company. The piece is 8.5" high, and 3.75 inches across, with excellent weight. The projectile is empty/FFE, and comes complete with a Royal Laborotories marked transit plug. Pieces of this design stayed in use from the middle until the end of the 19th century, with very few good examples still surviving. The piece was recovered from an old Victorian Royal Navy gunnery range, which trained officers and gunners alike, during the Georgian and Victorian era's.
