English antique sterling silver ecclesiastical wine ewer by John Crane Salt, hallmarked from London in 1867. Sir Joseph Ritchie Lyon Dickson was the son of John Dickson, a naval surgeon who had served with Nelson at Copenhagen, and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Archibald Dalzel, governor of Cape Coast Castle.
