Antique pair of candle snuffer Scissors or wick trimmers Steel with silver plate decorative floral additions. A fine Pair of antique candle snuffer scissors, also known as a wick trimmer. These tools were used to cut off and contain the burned wicks of candles, which helped to prevent smoke and soot and ensure a cleaner burn. The small box-like receptacle on the scissors was designed to catch the trimmed wick. The point at the end was used to retrieve the wick if it fell into the molten wax. Good vintage condition Steel scissors with the additional floral decorative patterns to the box and part of the mechanism. No hallmark but believe these to be silver plated.
