This is a stunningly beautiful antique pair of Chinese red lacquered leather chinoiserie trunks, circa 1880 in date. The pair features rectangular shaped red leather trunks decorated with gilt herons and deer amongst trees and butterflies in an oriental landscape, and raised on decorative hardwood stands.
