antique metal goblet with patina 4¼ - possibly a 18th century tavern spittoon

£52.70

This is a 4¼ metal goblet with a dark thick patina, i do not know much about this, i found it in a celler of a house i was clearing a few years ago, I rescued it from the skip as it looked so old, I have used google AI to try to identify a period it came from, the result was wide ranging from the 18th century tavern table spittoon to possible WW1 trench art made from old artillery shells, it doesn't look like its made from brass or copper but I may be wrong, the base is brazed to the cup part, I used this to try to date it but it did not really help, I have posted lots of photos so maybe anyone who knows about these can make a educated guess
