Wow what a lovely piece. One of the legs is loose. It fits back the other three are snug. I believe this is made of WhiteOak and at one time this was probably used on a daily basis. The Heavy hardwood plank top is wedged through-tenon joinery for the splayed legs. It has rectangular mortise cutout at one end, small circular peg holes. This piece could have been used for a variety of reasons. A cobbler's bench, a work tool riser, or a traditional pig-scalding bench.
