A remarkable survival from pre-Revolutionary France. French pewter, marked ES, 1769, ETAIN to base. Louis XVI period, pre-Revolutionary France, circa 1769-1790. The form is characteristic of the era - an oval body on a moulded foot, rope-twist side handles, perforated lid with a decorative flower knop, and an engraved panel of five flowers to the front face.
