This is a delightful, Edwardian Sovereign case from c1910. In perfect working order, it features 9carat gold filled casing and fittings with a 20 year guarantee. Indeed, the piece is stamped; ‘GOLD FILLED 9 CARAT TO WEAR 20 YEARS’ and has hand-engraved service/maintenance marks (see photo). The push button opening mechanism is in perfect working order, as is the spring loaded coin holder and suspension ring. The case has some wear to the gold filled plating to the front and back (see photos) but still retains its gleaming finish, especially inside the case.
