Turn of the century Anglo Chinese chest box with a highly decorative exterior. The Iid has a hand-painted with a bouquet of traditional English style flowers with a touch of oriental stylisation. The scalloped sides of the chest are wrapped with textured paper, designed to look like book spines. The glossy black lacquered finish on the interior and the metal fittings are quintessentially Chinese. Overall wear consistent with age, light scratches, knocks etc but no detrimental damage to the structure of the chest. Length 68cm Width 44cm Height 28cm
