Antique Bretby (Tooth & Ault) Art Pottery Jardieniere Planter. Registered 1895 means this piece of history is late Victorian - early Art Nouveau. Back-stamped with Bretby sunburst logo and registered 1036 E. The jardiniere is approx 18 cm tall but wider than tall. It has a crimped, lobed rim. the outside is matte brown with raised foliage in bronzed metalic lustre glaze in an appliquéd Oak Leaf design. The metalic, bronze finish being popular with both Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau movements. The outer matte glaze shows a little wear but otherwise the jardiniere is in great antique condition.
