A hand beaten copper warming pan with a pierced hinged lid and a long handle (fruitwood?). Ideal for a fireside display or a bedroom feature. The pan would have been used to warm the bed by filling with hot coals or stones. Alternatively, it may have been used to roast chestnuts over the fire. This is an early example, probably from the late 1700s or early/mid 1800s. Likely to be a farmhouse utensil crafted locally by an artisan.
