The top of the desk has a recessed design, which has been hand painted. The desk is in excellent condition. The interior of the desk appears to be original, but I'm not sure. The desk measures approximately 12" across and approximately 8" from the front to the back and approximately height of 3 1/2". Condition is used. Please see pics
