The sides are fitted with robust, hand-forged wrought iron bail handles set into classic heart/kidney-shaped backplates. The interior wood is remarkably clean, remaining "in the white" (unpainted) with a warm honey color, showing early scud marks from a hand plane, and retaining a nice sweet, clean, old-growth wood aroma entirely free of musty or smoky odors.
