Mid 18th.c. Welsh oak box settle or hall seat c.1740. High backrest with four raised and fielded panels and a simple moulded edge to the surrounding rails and mullions. Over a board seat (height 18½"), the centre panel lifting on handmade iron hinges to reveal useful storage space below for boots and shoes etc.
