Lovely Early 19th century or perhaps late 18th century French faience barbers shaving bowl from the city of Nevers. Celebrating the end of the year the writing reads ‘voila l’année finis’ and so it’s the year end. Classically used in a barbers for shaving , it a Possibility this one was used for tips. A humorous display item. Hard to know for sure! A charming example of one of these bowls with distinctive shape for neck/chin. Lovey hand painting in the Nevers style. Approximately 30x20cm. Generally very good condition. There is a hairline as seen but doesn’t affect its stability. A few small chips and marks as you’d expect.
