A Vintage French Art Deco Trinket Box, Pewter, A.E. Chanal, Circa 1930

An antique French Art Nouveau/Art Deco repoussé pewter trinket box created by the renowned design duo Alice and Eugène Chanal (active early 20th century). Designed in France under the workshop name A.E. Chanal, Alice Holbach and her husband Eugène-Louis Chanal specialized in stylized, hand-hammered organic metalwork between 1900 and 1930. Crafted entirely from pewter (known as étain in French) and in very good condition, it is stamped "a.e.Chanal DÉPOSÉ" to the base. It is also etched "PL8½". 8.5cm in diameter and 3cm tall.
