A Victorian 3-Legged Chip Carved Oak Circular Stool, Rustic Milking Stool

£61.02

An antique three-legged wooden tripod stool, commonly referred to as a milking stool or a country hearth stool. It had a thick, circular seat supported by three turned, splayed legs joined directly to the underside. The splayed tripod design provides maximum stability on uneven rustic floors. The top surface is intricately decorated with chip carving (or geometric relief carving), a traditional folk-art woodworking technique. The pattern consists of a central geometric starburst or rosette motif surrounded by layered concentric borders. In good antique condition, with expected signs of age and wear, but still sturdy. 31cm tall and 25cm diameter seat. Please check out my other listings, new items added regularly.
