Charming vintage French copper hearth pan or skillet. Bought in a traditional French brocante market. Copper pan with a long cast iron handle.These types of pans were traditionally used in an open fire. The pan was placed under the meat joint to collect the juices and for for either later use or to baste the meat The little stand helps it stay upright. They were also used as small saucepans for cooking over a fire. The handle has a ring which would allow the pan to be hung on the wall next to the hearth when not in use.
